I'm Back - Now with more Coke than before.

Hello!

I had a nice break from blogging, and I guess you had a nice break from reading my posts. But the fun's over now - back to business.

On this day in 1886, Coca-Cola was invented. And I just so happen to have a button that goes along with this crucial day in history.

#0245: I tried sniffing Coke, but the ice cubes got stuck in my nose.

Click here to visit this button in my Etsy store.

See, it's funny, because there are two meanings of Coke. Get it? Hahahaha! And also, Coca-Cola originally got its name because it contained Cocaine. But it doesn't anymore. But it's still called Coke. And Cocaine is called Coke. HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Get it?

See what happens when I take a week off? I go completely insane.

Happy Birthday to Me

Greetings!

My birthday is on Wednesday. Since I'm going to be decrepitly (is that a word? it should be) old, I'm giving myself a small present. As a gift to myself, I'm going to take a week off from blogging.

I know this will be a sad time for all (both) of you who regularly tune in to see what button I've selected each day, but I'm sure you'll survive somehow. Just visit my button gallery and pick a random design to adore - that should get you through the dark times.

See you next week (when I'm decrepitly old plus a few days). =)

Get busy living, or get busy dying

I totally spaced on posting a button yesterday. Oops. But I'm sure it won't be the only time I do that. I make no excuses, except that I was preoccupied with the excitement of planning my new future life. My bad.

Without further ado, here's today's button. I chose this one for the health care reform that will hopefully be coming along soon.

#0160: Despite the cost of living, it remains popular.

Click here to visit this button in my Etsy store.

And I'll even refrain from sharing with you the billions of words I have to say about the health care debate. Consider that your Happy Friday gift from me. =)

It's so easy being green

Green is my favorite color, so I naturally love St. Patrick's Day. I've never fallen prey to the pinchers, even if I forget what day it is. I'm almost always wearing something green.

Here's a green button for today, and it features another of my favorite things - the dirty martini. Yum!

#0232: I like it dirty

Click here to visit this button in my Etsy store.

Want so see some more of my favorite things? Then you're in luck - my button gallery has a page dedicated to my Favorite Things.

Minions make the world go (1") round

Today's post will be short and sweet - just the two buttons for Two-Button Tuesday, then I'm out of here. I have shrink plastic jewelry to make, bills to pay, a chicken to roast, and a workspace to clean.

Today's buttons are in honor of my minion Mat (aka OCD Boy), who created the first of the two. I think you'll notice a theme.

#0319: Only Optimists are Disappointed

Click here to visit this button in my Etsy store.

And for the button numero dos...

#0316: Health is merely the slowest rate at which one can die.

If you like this kind of low-altitude attitude, you might also enjoy some of the other buttons in the Pessimism section on the Mood Disorders page of my button gallery.

Beware the Ides of March

Today's Button of the Day in honor of the Ides of March. Et tu Brute?

#0027: I don't get mad. I get stabby.

Click here to visit this button in my Etsy store.

I don't recommend that you celebrate the Ides of March by stabbing your best friend repeatedly, but do what you gotta do.

Pi Post! and other weirdness

Sunday (3/14) is Pi Day. And if you don't know why it's called Pi Day, I'm not going to explain it to you. It's also Albert Einstein's birthday, which makes it even more of a nerdfest.

I love Pi Day. I also celebrate Pi Time (when I happen to notice it) and Pi Cars (based on their license plates). Maybe I'm just weird.

If you're weird too, and you like to celebrate the nerdy things in life, check out the Intelligence & Lack Thereof section of my button gallery.

And here's the Button of the Day:

#0048: I'm wierd. You're ugly. Let's call it even.

Click here to visit this button in my Etsy store.

There are worse things than being weird. Embrace it.

Give the gift that keeps on giving

St. Patrick's Day is coming up fast, and so is my birthday. The ideal gift for either of these occasions is a bottle of something deliciously intoxicating. I recommend Bakon Vodka, but go with whatever you like, from a six-pack of Guinness to a jug of whiskey. The important part is that you dress up your boozy gift with a clever bottle tag. Here's one of my favorites:

Click here to see the bottle tags available in my Etsy store.

Don't see the bottle tag you want? I'm happy to whip one up from any button design you like.

And for the Button of the Day, here's the matching design in 1" round format:

#0230: You call it a drinking problem. I call it a reality exit strategy.

Click here to visit this button in my Etsy store.

Get your green on.

Who puts the Laughter in Manslaughter?

Did you know that today is Chuck Norris's 70th birthday? It's also Osama Bin Laden's birthday. Now there's a cage match I'd pay to see.

Also on this day, in 1862, the first paper money was issued in the U.S. I'm a fan of money, and I'd like to collect more. So here's the button for today:

#0261: Of course it buys happiness

Click here to visit this button in my Etsy store.

Plus, this button's green, so you can wear it on St. Patrick's Day and avoid a pinch.
I have a billion other green buttons too, so stock up before the big day on the 17th.

Panicking and Shortness

Today is Panic Day! I don't know why it's Panic Day, but I have a button for it anyway:

#0282: Panic Button

Click here to visit this button in my Etsy store.

And because it's Two-Button Tuesday, here's the second button:

#0325: I'm not short. I'm fun-sized.

Click here to visit this button in my Etsy store.

Wonder why this is one of the buttons for today? It might have something to do with the fact that today is Emmanuel Lewis's birthday. Or maybe I was inspired by Barbie's birthday. Or it could just be random coincidence.

Craft Shows and Boobies, but not necessarily together

I had a great time at the I Heart Indie Crafts show in Kirkland yesterday. I'll be there again the first Sunday in May, so mark your calendars.

I also just signed up for the April I Heart Rummage show, which is at Chop Suey on Capitol Hill. Don't miss it!

Today is International Women's Day, so here's a Button of the Day for all you Fallopian Americans:

#0093: Feel Your Boobies

Click here to visit this button in my Etsy store.

Remember to perform monthly self-exams to prevent breast cancer.

And if you don't already do it, visit the Breast Cancer Site every day (or at least today) and Click to Give Free Mammograms to women in need. It doesn't cost you anything but a few seconds of your time, but it can mean a healthy future for a women who can't afford a mammogram.

Happy Friday!

Here's today's button, in honor of Employee Appreciation Day:

#0456: Pink slips are the new black

This is a new button - you could be the first kid on your block to have it.

March Forth and Do Something Today

Happy National Grammar Day! Today's button is for all you grammar nazis out there.

#0138: Don't make me beat you in the name of grammar.

Click here to visit this button on my Etsy shop.

If you like this button, you'll probably like the other buttons on the Intelligence & Lack Thereof page of my gallery. Scroll down to the Full Frontal Nerdity section. March is a great month for nerdy pursuits, whether of the word or number variety - celebrate Pi Day on 3/14 and the Ides of March on 3/15.

By the way, today is also International Scrapbooking Industry Day. Try using buttons on your scrapbook pages - I promise it will make them super cool.

Liberty and Justice and a Show on Sunday

A bit of trivia for you: on March 3, 1931, the Star Spangled Banner was adopted as our national anthem.

Here's a loosely related Button of the Day:

#0330: Liberty & Justice for All (not available in all areas)

Click here to view this button in my Etsy store.

Okay, so it's not really related to the national anthem at all, but at least it has the Statue of Liberty in the background. Yay America!

The First Two-Button Tuesday: Ideas

Welcome to the very first edition of Two-Button Tuesday. I'm kinda cheating, because the two buttons are actually variations of the same button, but it's my blog and I can kinda cheat if I want to.

Another reason I love March is that it's International Ideas Month. To celebrate that, here are the Tuesday Two:

#0085: Idea Girl

These buttons were designed by my talented minion, Mat (aka OCD Boy).

#0100: Idea Guy
And in case you're interested in other totally awesome stuff, today is Read Across America Day and the birthday of both Dr. Seuss and Jon Bon Jovi.

A Blog? That's Madness. March Madness.

Welcome to OOOH SHINY! - the official blog of Short Attention Span Girl.

Since March is my favorite month, I've decided to officially launch my brand new blog on March 1st. March has all the best stuff:
  • Spring
  • St. Patrick's Day (aka Corned Beef & Cabbage Awareness Day)
  • Pi Day
  • The Ides of March
  • My birthday
  • And it's National Craft Month
And to top it all off, the first week of March is National Procrastination Week. Which brings me to my very first Button of the Day:

Button #0298: "I Have Not Yet Begun to Procrastinate"

Click here to view this button in my Etsy store.

It's ironic, because I'm not actually procrastinating. I'm really starting this blog! Really! Can you smell the desperation?

The first order of business for this blog is to have a Button of the Day every day (well, every weekday), and Two on Tuesday. I have over 450 different button designs so far, so that should last me a while.

When I have the time, energy, and inspiration, I'll also write about other random stuff relating to my business (new items, crafty experiments, special offers, etc), my life (I should get one of those), and the world around me (I assume there is such a thing, because I see it in my computer).

Disclaimer: If I offend you, feel free to stop reading and go somewhere that better suits your delicate sensibilities. I do enjoy making fun of hate mail though, so bring it on!

Testing 1 - 2 - 3

Ahoy! I'll be launching my brand new Short Attention Span Girl blog on March 1st, and this is the test to see if I have everything situated properly.

Feel free to ignore anything I post before March 1st. But starting on March 1st, you'll want to keep your eyes peeled (such a gross visual) for all kinds of awesomeness.
